FIRST WEEK: 10TH – 14 JULY, 2023

  • 1st Day: Pray against this soil (wayside) lest the seed of the word be taken away.
  • 2nd Day: Pray against the rocky ground, (hard-hearts) lest the seed fail to produce a crop.
  • 3rd Day: Pray against the soil with thorns (worries and preoccupations of the world) lest the seed fail to produce a crop.
  • 4th & 5th Days: Pray for a good soil, that the seeds of the word of the retreat will fall on good hearts, well-disposed hearts, so that the fruits of the word during the retreat will grow and yield thirty, sixty or a hundredfold.

THE MAIN TOPIC OF TODAY: CURSE

Some Person's who can curse someone:
  • God: Deuteronomy 27 vs 13: anyone who worships an idol is a curse, who dishonored their mother or father, anyone who changes his neighbour's landmark, etc.
  • Parent: the curse on Shechem and Zebulun by their father.
  • The Priest/Pastor/Chiefs:
  • Surogate Parents: one who seat's on behalf of the parents.
  • One Who ever you hurts: be it a Slave, Friend, Apprentice, etc
  • Husband and Wife: David cursed his wife and she never bear a child till death. Abigail Cursed her husband and he died immediately.
  • Self: Curses upon Self. One Speaking against Self by negative words.
  1. Number 23 vs 23, the story of Balaam Note: Any curse that one don't deserve can not align.

This is the third week of our one month retreat. The week is already half gone and the 5Rs are coming forth gradually but surely.

1. R - Recognize the sins and evils as are, full disclosure and by name.
2. R - Repent of those sins and evils, committed or inherited, with full sense of responsibility, without any defence mechanisms of all sorts.
3. R - Renounce, standing on our baptismal promises, all the sins and evils repented of; an act of fully dealing with them. Everything renounced is fully dealt with.
4. R - Resist, in their entirety, all the evil effects of the sins and evils, the sufferings accruing thereof. Here, a full blown deliverance from the menace of the evil spirits lurking behind our life's foundations, is conducted.
5. R - Renew, in building a new and one Righteous Foundation, again the one acceptable covenant of the blood of the Son of God with the Father. We belong to Him, for we are the sheep of His flock.
These are the works of the Lord God, through his Son Jesus Christ, engaging us in the parish this week. God is using his human instruments, Frs. Ifunanya Aneke, our PP, and Chukwuma Enyenwa, to facilitate us into this experience. This week's is the core of our CONVERSION EXPERIENCE.
